Life in Avignon is known for the originality and diversity of events that take place there.
Cheval Passion and the “Hivernales de la danse” (contemporary dance festival ) are well-known major events during the winter, as well as the traditional Christmas market.
Throughout the various seasons, the opera house/theatre , music societies and dance companies offer a varied programme of theatre, music and dance, and many exhibitions are held. Prestigious productions and local events make up the everyday cultural life in Avignon.
